Get Those Paper Piercers Ready!!!

As seen on Ideas for Scrapbookers Blog ...

Hello Scrappers…I just wanted to post another really easy stitching tutorial. As you will learn I love the effect stitching adds to almost every scrap project known to me…LOL! I don’t know about you, but for me, guy pages can be tough. I struggle so often with keeping the page masculine, so I found a trick. STITCHES!!! As you will see in this LO, I have added very few embellishments and paper left over from another project. The last element here that makes this LO look finished, yet still masculine, are the tilted lines of stitching creating a frame for the photo and title. So there you have a finished masculine LO. The stitching causes interest where I love interest…on the photo. To achieve this look...

1. I assembled my LO using a couple of rectangle shaped papers behind my photo.

2. Using a 12” Ruler I simple eye-balled my angle desired and drew 4 straight lines creating box. I overlapped each line for a casual effect.

3. I then used a paper piercer and poked holes about every ¼ “ to ½ “ apart, on all the lines.

4. I used embroidery floss and stitched through the holes in a simple in and out motion.

5. I added the buttons after stitching was complete by just sewing through the button hole and the pierced area already in place.

6. I cut 2 lengths of rickrack, pasted one on top of the other and adhered to the page under the photo.

7. I then added a journal square and a chipboard photo corner.

8. Last I poked 2 rows of 6 holes about ½ “apart in the corner and stitched 3 X’s for balance.

A Sewing Project Tutorial...

As previously seen this month on Ideas for Scrapbookers :
For me, most scrapbook projects are not complete without stitching. Stitching adds that additional element of creativity. It can add that punch of color or act as the last embellishment needed to complete the overall look and balance of the project. It makes me happy to put the extra time and effort into my projects.

You can use typical embroidery floss, or for added flair, such as I have done on this LO, you can use sheer ribbon. I made this LO simple with a few left over scraps from other projects, rub-on words and flowers. To get the stitched effect...

1. I traced a dinner plate with a light pencil mark.

2. I added foam board under my page to pad for easy piercing.

3. I used a paper piercer and punched holes about 1/4" apart all around the circle.

4. Using a large hole needle and sheer ribbon, I sewed around, in a simple in and out motion, leaving a little fullness between each hole.

5. I tied the ends together and included the charm in the knot.

Pam Callaghan, known as Pammy at Scrapbook .com has finally started her very own blog. http://ideasforscrapbookers.blogspot.com/ Pam happens to be one of the most talented and sweetest scrappers I have been privileged to meet online since I began surfing the web for scrap ideas 2 years ago. She plans to offer helpful incite to that talent she possesses through this blog. Already you will find many ideas and templates to copy for FREE. It doesn't get much better than that. She has been published in so many Scrapbook magazines and Idea books that I can scarcely keep up. I am so excited about this fabulous resource for scrappers and for Pam. I wish her much satisfaction and happiness from this awesome new blog endeavor, entitled ,"Ideas for Scrapbookers".

So how may you ask can this get more exciting? Well, she has asked me to be "A Contributing Artist"!!! YAY!!! I am so excited about getting started. There will be a proper introduction on her blog next week. Be sure and check it out.
There's more...I know just when you thought the good news couldn't get any better. She is looking for a few more Artists to contribute. Here is the link, once again, to the blog for how you may apply. http://ideasforscrapbookers.blogspot.com/ Good Luck!!!

I am getting too old...

Too old for scrapping past midnight that is. Sweet Memories did it again. We all had a great time cropping till midnight and some of us even longer than that. I manage to get 3 LOs done while I was there...Record for me in one day/night. As always we had plenty of food, friends and fun, fun , fun. Carolyn and Erin you RAWK!!!

I can share 2 of the Los I completed. The 3rd will be revealed soon...

I tried a new tech on the first here. I layered 2 different size pics, one on top of the other with pop dots. It added great dimension to the page.

This Lo is of a pic of my kids when they were little. It is my fave zoo pic of them. They both kept screaming, "I See Monkeys"...I miss them being little...some times. LOL!
I love the sassafras Felties here!

Sassafras Lass....Love it!

I miss my children being small. This pic was taken at American Adventures in 2002. They are so silly posing with their cousin. These three were so close at this age. This is my favorite pic of them together. I love creating with Sassafras Lass and this LO is no exception. It so whimsical and fun.

"We R Memory Keepers" at Sweet Memories...

I spent part of my Monday this week with Erin and Carolyn and I did a little snooping. Ya see, there was this box, right next to me, so I had to peek. What I found made me very happy and sweetie Erin allowed me to open the packages and bring some home. It's Twirl by We R Memory Keepers and I loved working with it. I mixed in a little Prima, Sassa Fras Lass, and Oct Afternoon, all purchased from Sweet Memories at one time or another. I have lots left so there will be more coming soon...LOL!!!
